A small detail with centuries of meaning.
This QEII sixpence hair slide is made using a genuine British sixpence, hand enamelled in our Cambridge workshop and sealed with a clear jewellery-grade resin to protect the finish and preserve the coin beneath.
Traditionally associated with weddings and good fortune, the sixpence has long been worn by brides as a symbol of prosperity, luck, and a happy future. This piece offers a modern way to wear that tradition - discreet, meaningful, and beautifully crafted.
Each coin is securely set into a silver-plated hair slide, making it easy to wear in loose hair, an up-do, or as part of a bridal or bridesmaid style.
This piece can be upgraded with our Mintique of Cambridge luxury branded jewellery box, designed to complement the heritage nature of our jewellery and make the unboxing experience feel truly special. Perfect for gifting.
Colour options
Choose from six finishes:
- Blue – a timeless “something blue”
- Green – rich and botanical
- Purple – deep and romantic
- Red – bold and symbolic
- Black – classic and understated
- Clear – no enamel, showing the original sixpence in its natural state
Each enamelled coin is finished by hand, meaning subtle variations may occur - a hallmark of the process and part of each piece’s character.
Date options
Dates available (or let us choose the date for you):
1953 - 1967
Perfect for
- Brides and bridesmaids
- Wedding morning details
- “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”
- A thoughtful gift to match our enamelled sixpence cufflinks
This piece pairs beautifully with both modern and vintage bridal looks and makes a subtle keepsake long after the day itself.
Care notes
To keep your hair slide looking its best:
- Avoid spraying hairspray directly onto the resin surface
- Store flat when not in use
- Wipe gently with a soft cloth if needed
As with all Mintique of Cambridge designs, these hair slides are made slowly and intentionally honouring historic materials while creating jewellery that feels timeless, not mass-produced.
