Jewellery Care

Our jewellery carries history and just like any piece of history, it deserves to be cherished. Each Mintique of Cambridge design is handmade from authentic coins and built to last a lifetime with a little love and care.

Below you’ll find our best tips to keep your rings, necklaces, and other pieces looking their best.

Enjoying your jewellery

Your Mintique jewellery is designed for everyday wear, but like all fine jewellery, it benefits from a bit of mindfulness.

Lotions and perfumes

Apply perfume, lotions, hairspray, and makeup then wait for them to settle in before putting on your jewellery.

Exercise

Sweat, friction, and impact can dull the finish or damage your jewellery over time. Remove your pieces before running, gym workouts, or other physical activities to keep them looking their best.

Water and harsh chemicals

Remove pieces before swimming, showering, exercising, or cleaning as moisture and chlorine can dull the finish or cause tarnishing.

Storage tips

Proper storage is one of the easiest ways to keep your jewellery in perfect condition.

Keep it airtight

Store each piece in its Mintique box or a small zip-lock bag to slow down tarnishing and prevent tangling chains.

Damp or heat

Keep jewellery away from bathrooms, radiators, and direct sunlight.

Cleaning your jewellery

Sterling silver pieces

Mix mild dish soap with warm water and gently clean using a soft cloth or toothbrush. Rinse thoroughly and dry well. Use a silver polishing cloth for regular upkeep .

Post-1920 pieces (non sterling silver)

Clean gently with a soft microfiber cloth. For light tarnish, wipe with a mix of lemon juice or white vinegar and a little salt, then rinse and dry thoroughly. For a brighter finish use a silver polishing cloth.

For all pieces

Avoid silver dips or harsh chemicals. Don’t soak necklaces with chains for prolonged periods - moisture trapped between links can cause dulling. Always dry completely before storing.

Each Mintique piece has lived a life before you worn smooth by time, history, and now your own story. With just a little care, your jewellery will continue to shine for generations to come.
