High-street rings are fine… if your love story’s a copy-paste.
But yours? Yours deserves something with soul. Something hand-forged, rich with real history, and unique to you.
This antique wedding ring set is handcrafted from two genuine 1820 British sterling silver coins - over 200 years old and each with their own journey. No cheap replicas, no factory stamping. Just centuries-old currency, transformed into meaningful heirlooms for your forever moment.
The Sixpence ring is lightweight and low-profile - subtle, but full of detail. The Shilling has a thicker band and stronger feel - ideal for larger hands or those who want a little boldness. Together, they’re a beautiful pairing for couples who want something special and just a little bit rebellious compared to the regular wedding rings on the high street.
Why choose these rings?
Because there’s something deeply romantic about wearing a piece of real history.
You’re not just getting a ring set - you’re getting a story. Coins that have travelled time to land on your fingers. Hand-shaped to fit you, made to last, and impossible to mass-produce.
If you want your wedding bands to reflect your individuality, depth, and shared adventure — these are for you.
Coin History: Why 1820?
These Regency period coins were minted during the final days of King George III’s reign, at the dawn of a new royal era. In fact, George IV took the throne later that very year. It was a time of scientific discovery, exploration, and changing social norms — a moment of shifting power and progress.
💡 Did you know?
- 1820 marked the death of King George III, ending one of the longest reigns in British history.
- The Cato Street Conspiracy, a plot to assassinate the entire British cabinet, was foiled in 1820.
- The world’s first successful photograph was taken just a few years later, in 1826, by Nicéphore Niépce.
- Some 1820 coins feature Latin inscriptions, adding a mysterious, romantic touch to the design.

The making of your heirloom
Each ring is meticulously crafted over several days, with attention to detail at every stage. I only use genuine, publicly circulated coins, rejecting any that are overly worn or damaged by time.
Because of the handmade process and natural variations in minting years, each finished ring may differ slightly from the photos shown - that's what makes yours completely unique.
Your rings will arrive in a beautiful presentation box, ready for your wedding day.
These are more than rings. They’re promises, preserved in sterling silver.
Your 1820 rings are made from coins over two centuries old — and when they’re gone, they’re gone. No restocks. No reprints. Just a tiny piece of British history, made just for you.
Make your wedding unforgettable with rings that say something truly different.

I am absolutely delighted with these rings, which I ordered to propose to my partner at the start of this year. With expensive diamonds not being their thing, I opted instead for something unique yet still beautiful and meaningful - and these rings from Mintique of Cambridge did not disappoint.
They have a brilliant finish to them, and the letters and patterning from the original coin used to craft the ring are still very clearly preserved on the outer edge. The quality is astounding and actually better than many of the other silver rings I looked at in person before choosing these.
From start to finish, Katie was amazing - with great speedy responses, thorough support with ring sizes, and frequent updates.
If you're looking for something truly unique with meaning and history to it, look no further - you've found it!
