A powerful ring with history in its bones

Crafted from an original British Half Crown, this substantial sterling silver coin ring is the boldest in our collection - both in meaning and presence! Each ring is carefully shaped and polished in our Cambridge workshop, preserving the deep ridges and intricate details of this grand historical coin.

Whether worn to mark a 50th birthday, as a statement piece, fashionable thumb ring, or passed down as a future heirloom, this ring isn’t just jewellery - it’s a slice of Britain’s past reimagined for the present.

Coin history

The Half Crown was first issued as a denomination in 1549, with the first silver coins minted in 1551, and remained in use until it ceased to be legal tender on January 1, 1970, just before decimalisation.

💡 Did you know?

• A Half Crown was worth 2 shillings and 6 pence - or ⅛ of a pound
• The final versions bore the image of Queen Elizabeth II
• It was commonly given as a gift or reward for special occasions due to its high value

The creation process

Each ring takes several days to make, with meticulous attention to detail at every stage. I only use genuine, publicly circulated coins, rejecting any that are overly worn or damaged by time.

Because of the handmade process and natural variations in minting years, each finished ring may differ slightly from the photos shown - that's what makes yours completely unique.

Your ring will arrive in a beautiful presentation box, ready to gift (or keep for yourself!).
